Position Title:

Wig Internship

Department:

Costume Department - Wig Shop

Position Summary:

Being a part of the Wig Shop means working under the Wig Shop Lead to bring the Hair and Makeup Design to life on stage in the middle of the gorgeous red rocks of Padre Canyon.

Our Wig Intern is responsible for altering, and styling wigs as assigned under the guidance of the Wig Shop Lead as per the designs from the Wigs, Hair, and Makeup Designer. As a Wig Intern you are a valuable part of the team, but it is understood that you may still be learning and in the beginning stages of your wigs, hair and makeup or theatre journey.

Required Skills:

• Basic washing, blocking, roller setting, and styling of wigs
• Basic wig Repair
• Use of tools needed for wig altering, styling, and etc. (ventilating hooks, wig dryers, wig heads, steamers, etc.)
• Working knowledge of hand and machine stitching techniques for wigs
• Knowledge of a variety of wig styles and maintenance techniques
• Ability to lift 20 lbs
• Ability to work with performers and staff in a positive and professional manner while on campus at all times

• Ability to listen, take instruction, and to participate in a team to complete the assigned tasks

• Clean and maintain all spaces daily
• Ability to work outside in a desert climate (though our build facilities are located indoors)

Required Qualifications:

• In College OR No Degree/professional experience
• Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and maintain a safe work environment

Pay:

$16.00 /hour
