JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Department of English at The Pennsylvania State University at University Park, Pennsylvania, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Creative Writing (Fiction) to begin January 2025, with flexibility.
Responsibilities include teaching two courses per semester to both undergraduate students and those enrolled in the BA/MA graduate program. It also includes advising theses and mentoring creative writing students.
The BA/MA program offers an integrated undergraduate/graduate degree in English with a creative writing concentration in poetry and/or prose. Students complete the program in two years-their senior year and the additional MA year.
Candidates for the position must have a terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in English, creative writing, or related field by the appointment date. They must also have a record of publications in prominent venues. The ideal candidate will have at least one book in print or under contract. In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity.
This is a non-tenure-track, term appointment, with the possibility of reappointment. This position will be filled at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor.
