Job Title: Video Editor
Location: On-site – Midtown Manhattan
Type: 3-month contract with potential to extend into a longer-term contract or full-time role
SurvivorNet is a mission-driven digital health platform focused on cancer care, and we’re looking for a talented, driven, and creative Video Editor with strong producer sensibilities – someone with keen attention to detail who can deliver medically accurate, emotionally resonant videos, that speak directly to both patients and physicians and can shepherd video projects from beginning to end.
The ideal candidate will be able to act as an editor and a story producer simultaneously. You should have experience in journalism, educational content and documentary film and be able to take content from an initial interview, transcript or script and work with in-house teams including producers, writers and other editors to execute and deliver short-form video deliverables on a daily basis.
This is an on-site position in our edit bay - 9a-6:30p daily with our team in midtown Manhattan.
This is a hands-on creative role for someone who understands the nuances of healthcare communication and educational content, who cares deeply about story, and knows how to bring heart and humanity to complex topics. We’re building resources that offer clarity, compassion, and community to people navigating a cancer diagnosis — from symptoms and treatment to survivorship, relationships, and quality of life.
If you know how to turn raw interviews with doctors, patients, and survivors into short-form videos that inform and support, we want to talk to you.
What You’ll Do:
· Daily edits of information-based educational material (2-3 minutes) that reflect both the medical reality and the emotional journey of cancer based on scripts initially provided and ultimately written by you
· Use graphics toolkits and Dynamic Link to write and oversee concise, clear, and accurate on-screen graphics — including animations, title cards, lower thirds, and TV-style short-form bullet-based info cards — that support learning and comprehension.
· Create metadata and thumbnails, and deliver against daily post-production schedules — following ingest protocols, naming conventions, and existing processes.
· Develop and improve upon existing processes.
· Shape narratives and edit stories about patients and survivors in a warm, thoughtful tone that provides hope while making the audience feel less alone.
· Find the story in interview transcripts and distill it into powerful, human-centered narratives.
· Oversee post-production for our streaming TV channel programming — — including preparation of short- and long-form films and TV series, GFX branding, on-air promos, and social content. Responsibilities include ingest and scheduling, building ad pods, and QA.
· Collaborate with producers, writers, and medical experts to ensure videos are both accurate and emotionally resonant.
· Ability to mix different media — video, graphics, and music — into a cohesive piece.
· Strong interest in typography, color, composition, compositing, keyframing, and title design.
· Experience in color correction and sound design is a plus.
· Occasionally participate in live action shoots as DIT or on-set playback
· Contribute to the development of efficient post-production workflows for scalable delivery of video content
· Manage multiple edits at once and keep projects on track under tight deadlines
What We’re Looking For:
• A journalism and educational programming background (TV, digital media, educational content platforms) excited to learn our brand’s tone and apply it with consistency.
• A strong editorial sensibility with the attention to detail of a perfectionist – spelling, consistent shot repo, clean audio mix that one would expect from a platform with high production value.
• Deep storytelling chops — you know how to find a hook and craft a narrative that hits the heart and informs the audience.
• Strong experience in video production and post-production workflows including multi-cam for live event post-production.
• Experience working with medical content
• Comfortable getting deep into the details of oncology with precision , from patient-facing info to physician-level insight — and defining what needs explaining and how
• Entire Adobe Creative Suite familiarity is a must (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Familiarity with Figma a plus
• Comfortable with Frame.io, LucidLink, Slack, and shared google apps
• A sharp eye for detail, a steady hand under deadline, and a warm, human-centered approach to everything you do
• Strong communicator, collaborator, and planner — you can own a post-production calendar and multiple project trackers and deliver against them.8
