About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Merchandising to lead its merchandising team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing category and assortment strategies that align with customer insights and financial targets. This role is pivotal in shaping the assortment, category strategies, and financial and operational plans for the retail banners. The VP of Merchandising will also be instrumental in leading a large buying team, creating a strategic multi-year vision, and maintaining productive vendor partnerships. A key aspect of the role is to ensure the team is focused on driving key activity areas and is consistently meeting or exceeding financial targets. Candidates for the VP of Merchandising position should have at least 10-15 years' progressive experience in merchandising, with a strong focus on product selection, pricing, and inventory management. The role requires a leader with a proven track record in developing and implementing strategic plans, as well as experience in cross-functional collaboration and a deep understanding of industry and market trends. Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to bring innovative and creative ideas to the merchandising process. A bachelor's degree in a related field is typically required, and an advanced degree such as an MBA is preferred. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing a team of high-performing managers and will be committed to driving change and innovation in the retail industry.
