Staff Nurse I: $6,649 - $8,486 APPROXIMATE MONTHLY* / $38.56 - $48.96 APPROXIMATE HOURLY*
Staff Nurse II: $6,981 - $8,911 APPROXIMATE MONTHLY* / $40.28 - $51.41 APPROXIMATE HOURLY*

Health and Human Services Agency
The Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) partners with communities to protect and improve the health and well-being of Shasta County residents. Established in 2006, the HHSA is organized into branches: Behavioral Health and Social Services, Public Health, Economic Mobility, and a centralized administration. The HHSA promotes optimal health for all.
Public Health focuses on community-wide prevention of communicable disease, chronic disease, injury, substance abuse, family violence, and lead poisoning.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Staff Nurse I: Under general supervision, to perform professional nursing services for patients in the health programs of the Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) and to perform related work as required.
Staff Nurse II: Same as Staff Nurse I, under direction, additionally to instruct and supervise other assigned medical personnel.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Staff Nurse I: This is the entry-level position for Registered Nurses who have recently graduated from a basic nursing program or for those Registered Nurses who do not have recent nursing experience.
Staff Nurse II: This is the journey-level class for Registered Nurses who have recent professional nursing experience.
Staff Nurse I/II: Assists in and personally administers general nursing care to assess patients at the Mental Health Clinic or in the field.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Staff Nurse I:
Knowledge of: Current nursing principles, methods, and procedures; medical terminology, hospital routines, and equipment.
Ability to: Administer treatments, medicines, and narcotics; maintain a sympathetic understanding of the patients under care and supervision; follow oral and written instructions.
Staff Nurse II:
Knowledge of: Current nursing principles, methods, and procedures; medical terminology, hospital routines, and equipment; hospital policies and procedures.
Ability to: Administer treatments, medicines, and narcotics; keep records and prepare clear and concise reports; supervise and train other nursing personnel.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT
Staff Nurse I:
Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN) issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing or possession of RN license within 120 days of the date of employment.
Staff Nurse II:
Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate for the Staff Nurse position will possess a strong foundation in nursing principles and a passion for improving health outcomes. Experience with Sexually Transmitted Infections and other Communicable Diseases is desirable but not required.
