SMT Operator
The SMT Operator will be responsible for operating Surface Mount Technology (SMT) machines used for SMT production process of ADTRAN's products.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate automated SMT Pick and Place machines performing routine set-up, operation, and adjustments.
- Operate other production equipment such as screen printers and reflow oven.
- Operate SMT and equipment to produce SMT boards according to standardized workmanship.
- Check machine readiness and conduct continuous monitoring of machine operations.
- Ensure the right components are used in production.
- Check the conformity of products by performing basic quality auditing, testing, and troubleshooting functions.
- Implement identified improvements.
- Participate in knowledge sharing and learning.
- Follow work instruction, Standard Operating Procedures, and supervisor direction.
- Check and inspect SMT components to ensure Q50 and IPC-A-610 quality standards are met.
- Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of hourly SMT activity records.
- May be utilized to work in other areas as production level warrants.
- Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company.
- Shift: Weekend, Friday-Sunday 6:00am-6:00pm
- MUST be able to train on 1st shift, Mon-Thur for a period of 1-3 months.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
- Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of education requirements
- 2 - 5 years related experience required.
- Basic Microsoft Office Skills.
- Must meet all essential physical and mental qualifications.
- Familiarity with Electro-static Discharge precautions.
- Knowledge of component identification.
- Familiar with MPM stencil printers.
- High level of interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate optimally with management and colleagues.
- Team-player, proactive, committed to providing high-quality work.
- Ability to work overtime and/or flexible shift hours when required.
- Must have experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- No travel is expected for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software experience preferred.
Essential Physical and Mental Qualifications:
- The employee must walk and stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 35 pounds without assistance on a repetitive basis and lift materials greater than 35 pounds with assistance.
- Manual dexterity with hands and fingers is necessary to make quick, precisely coordinated movements to grasp, manipulate, and assemble very small objects on a consistent basis.
- Must be able to frequently extend or reach with hands and arms while performing routine job functions including scanners, hand tools, power tools, and production equipment.
- The job will require occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Eye protection, respirators, and safety clothing will be required and supplied by the company in instances where there is exposure to safety hazards.
- Employees may be exposed to solder fumes.
- The job will require the employee to possess the ability to see and interpret instructions, warnings, safety hazards, colors, and procedures, the ability to hear alarms and pages, to listen for safety hazards, to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences in English, and the ability to communicate with peers through spoken words in English to complete job requirements.
