POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will be responsible for the design and development of new medical device products and product improvements. Other responsibilities include the creation and maintenance of 3D CAD models and documentation, design analysis, material research, prototype design, building and testing, design of gages and fixtures, manufacturing support and interface with the product development team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
Design/Development of medical products and product improvements
Creation and maintenance of 3D CAD models, assemblies, and prints
Management and use of CAD data management tools
Compliance to the AtriCure Quality System and company policies
Performing engineering analyses such as:
Mechanism design and analysis
Part fit and tolerance analysis
Materials selection
Design for manufacturability validation
Collaborate with suppliers in the design and procurement of development components
Supporting manufacturing validation
Facilitating the creation of design standard practices within the company

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
AS degree in Mechanical Design, Engineering Drafting, or equivalent
Basic understanding of mechanics and dynamics
Demonstrated creativity and proficiency in design of complex mechanisms and assemblies
2 years of experience in advanced modeling and document creation using Solidworks CAD
Proficiency in advanced GD&T and tolerance analysis
Proficiency in material selection and associated manufacturing processes
Knowledge of general prototyping and manufacturing technologies, including:
3D printing
Injection molding processes
Low to medium volume manufacturing processes
Strong computer/data entry, report writing, and verbal communication skills
Problem solving/trouble shooting experience
Ability to read and understand technical specifications and drawings
Ability to travel 10%
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in a technical field of study
5 years of experience in advanced modeling and document creation using Solidworks CAD
Advanced knowledge in materials selection
Advanced knowledge in GD&T and tolerance analysis
Experience in design of complex medical device assemblies
Experience collaborating with suppliers in the design and procurement of development components
Experience in performing stress analyses with finite element analysis tools
Expertise in general prototyping manufacturing technologies
Experience with Adobe Illustrator in document creation
Experience with inspection/testing and data analysis
Human Factors and Industrial Design experience
OTHER REQUIREMENTS :
Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as needed
Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull as needed
Ability to regularly lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift over 25 pounds
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
