Job Description

The Safety Manager will conduct analysis on, develop, coordinate, and implement occupational health policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations in the organization. The Safety Manager will ensure proper safety techniques and policies are practiced on jobs sites throughout the company and conduct all necessary safety trainings. 

 

  Essential duties include but are not limited to :

  • Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Ensures completion of required OSHA recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Stops operations and activities that could harm employees or equipment.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.
  • Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
  • Reviews and follows-up on accident and incident reports, managing all related claims. 
  • Maintains employee certification tracking. 
  • Keeps fleet information up to date and coordinates with Enterprise on all fleet related matters. 
  • Reviews telematic information and implements corrective action where necessary. 
  • Prepares all new jobsite and tasks related hazard analyses. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Competencies: 

  • Extensive knowledge of current safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to conduct training.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

The Safety Manager will be responsible for the supervision of all project Site Safety and Health Officers. 

 

Work Environment: 

This position operates within an office building and is shared with other office personnel. This position also requires periodic site visits and inspections for all project sites. 

 

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time throughout offices/ job sites as required to conduct safety inspections.

Position Type/ Hours:

This is a full-time position with hours of 7:30 AM- 4:30 PM Monday through Friday. However, it is necessary to be available as project needs arise, which may include overtime and weekend work.

 

Travel Requirements:  

Travel to jobsites and off-site meetings will be required. 

 

Required Education and Experience:  

  • At least five years of occupational health and safety experience in a construction environment required.

Additional Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Safety Engineering, Environmental Health, or related field required.
  • Certified Safety Professional status preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of EM 385-1-1.
