Job Description
Our ranch is a working ranch dedicated to maintaining a pristine landscape and well-functioning operations. We are looking for a hardworking, reliable, and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Ranch Hand / Groundskeeper. This role involves a variety of daily tasks essential to the upkeep and productivity of the ranch, requiring both technical skills and a strong work ethic.
Job Responsibilities:
Grounds Maintenance: Mowing, weeding, bed maintenance, tree pruning, and general landscape care.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Safely operate and maintain tractors, skid steers, forklifts, lawn maintenance equipment, and other ranch machinery.
Animal Care: Feed and monitor cattle, ensuring their well-being.
Fence & Property Maintenance: Repair and install fencing, gates, and other ranch infrastructure as needed.
General Ranch Duties: Perform various labor-intensive tasks including moving materials, clearing brush, and assisting with property upkeep, including handyman repairs and maintenance at the home.
Weather Adaptability: Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including high heat.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience in lawn maintenance (mowing, weeding, bed maintenance, etc.).
Proficiency in operating machinery such as tractors, skid steers, forklifts, and general lawn maintenance equipment.
Strong mechanical aptitude with basic knowledge of equipment maintenance.
Ability to prioritize and multitask in a dynamic ranch environment.
Good physical condition. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
Reliability and accountability - showing up on time and completing tasks independently.
Initiative and a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and willingness to take on various tasks without constant supervision.
Problem-solving skills. Ability to identify and address issues as they arise.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous ranch or farm experience is a plus.
Knowledge of basic fence repair and property maintenance.
Experience working with cattle or other livestock.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Work Environment & Expectations:
Outdoor work in hot, cold, or inclement weather conditions.
Full-time hours may include weekends and early mornings.
Physical labor, including lifting, bending, and operating machinery.
Must have reliable transportation to and from the ranch.
