The Austin precision machining operations produce extremely complex machined parts and subassemblies that are used in assembling the world's leading semi-conductor and defense equipment for world class technology leaders.
In addition, the plant is also responsible for and oversees a range of specialist services conducted by third party suppliers ranging from lapping, anodization, chemical cleaning, specialist welding and ceramic coatings and polishing.
Summary of Position As the Austin plant Quality Manager, you will be responsible for developing a world class quality department and driving plant wide continuous improvement that results in unparalleled quality performance. You will have the opportunity to reinforce foundational quality principals, as we develop innovative
manufacturingand inspection processes at the leading edge of automation and machining technology. This position will be responsible for managing, coordinating and administering all functions of the site's Quality Management System, including receiving inspection activities, quality engineering, supplier quality management and the QClaboratory.
Nature of Duties/Responsibilities: The Quality Manager will be responsible for directing and executing the Quality strategy for the plant and sustaining initiatives for the manufacturing facility. This position will manage all Quality assurance personnel and also take an active role in driving development projects, value engineering, continuous improvement projects, and innovation initiatives. As a key member of the plant leadership team, this person will play a vitally important role on the overall success of the plant by leading and motivating a team of technical and support professionals that will contribute to the plant's technical and operational superiority and competitiveness. Specific responsibilities will include:
- Lead and mentor QA Department, consisting of quality engineers, receiving inspection, and quality inspectors
- Build, manage and support business processes to ensure zero defects policy
- Plan and develop metrology infrastructure to support customer needs
- Drive culture of continuous improvements.
- Build team competence in problem solving and lessons learned activities to develop solutions for complex manufacturing problems.
- Monitor site quality performance through KPI's and drive plant wide continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain the site QMS compliance to ISO 9001:2015 by coordinating and responded to site certification audits
- Prepare the plant to comply with AS9100
- Champion lean six sigma manufacturing principles and structured activities throughout the plant
Education and Experience: - A 10+ year track record of success in relevant engineering roles for companies with best-in-class machining and/or engineering operations; preferably with experience with in semi-conductor capital equipment.
- 5 years experience in machining various materials including metals
- A track record of growth that is indicative of strong technical, management and organizational skills as well as strong customer presence.
- Ability to push, engage, motivate, and lead others
- A visionary and passionate leader who can inspire, communicate and influence in a professional yet "down-to-earth" manner to effectively gain trust and support across the company and customers
- Ability to communicate effectively in verbal, written and presentations modes.
- Strong presence and charisma with the ability to balance short-term and long-term objectives
- A track record of results and integrity with an affinity for a fast-paced, hard-working culture
- Demonstrated track record of developing skills in team members to create a high-performance group; sets, drives and meets aggressive goals for herself/himself and those around her/him.
- A working knowledge of Oracle (or equivalent ERP system), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Quality systems.
- Masters Degree in, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred
