Salary based on Appendix E of the Teacher Collective Bargaining Agreement
Reports to the Adult Basic Education Program Director
40 hours per week, on site daily, evening hours may be remote
Example Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 2:30 pm (including a 30 minute unpaid lunch break) and Monday / Wednesday 3:45 pm - 8:45 pm.
Additional summer hours may be possible based on budget and program needs.
SUMMARY
Under general supervision, this position is part of the Adult Academic Program (AAP) administrative team, reports to the AAP Director, and collaborates closely with program staff and instructors to develop and implement online instruction and distance learning opportunities for English Language and Adult Basic Education Learners. Additionally, to create and maintain learner enrollment, progress tracking, and reporting.
GOAL
Expand programming to include accessible, high-quality fully online and distance learning opportunities for Adult Learners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Develop and teaches online classes for Adult English Language Learners, GED students
* Collaborate with Teachers and program administration to enroll learners in and facilitate Distance Learning courses
* Implement best practices of online and adult language teaching
* Train existing and new teachers in technological integration
* Implement program curriculum and additional activities appropriate to learners' level and goals
* Master skills and content required for successful online and culturally relevant teaching
* Administer pre and post testing according to schedule
* Assistsin organizing and publicizing accessible, integrated instructional service for adults in accordance with the Minnesota Department of Education plan for adult basic education.
* Assists adult learners in developing and fulfilling appropriate learning plans (Personal Education Plan).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines
Valid MN teaching license (K12 or ABE) bachelor's or master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), applied linguistics, or bilingual education. Certification in one of the following areas is preferred: Educational technology, ESL, ABE, English, foreign language, or reading.
Knowledge of:
* Comfortable with basic DL standards, CCRS, curriculum writing, and ABE instruction
* Experience working with online learning platforms, and with students with low digital literacy skills
* Experience with teaching, preferably adults
* Experienced and comfortable with a diverse range of native-speaking and ELL students
* Applicable policies, procedures and regulations covering specific areas of assignment.
* Personal computers utilizing Adult Academic platforms, and specialized in word, excel and other Microsoft office applications
* Comfortable using technology to organize and deliver school programs and services.
* Principles of record keeping and records management.
* Methods and techniques for working with students and adults with disabilities and special needs.
* Culturally competent communication skills to build authentic relationships with constituents
Skill in:
* Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
* Administering educational and school support programs.
* Identifying problems and opportunities, and developing solutions.
* Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands.
* Providing effective customer service, and dealing tactfully and courteously with the public.
* Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers, clients and community agencies.
* Digitally literate/competent and confident troubleshooting DL platforms and computer issues
* Ability to create, learn, adapt, and improve systems
* Effective verbal and written communication.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid Minnesota State Driver's License may be required. First Aid, CPR, and AED training is required within one year of hire. Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training may be required within one year of hire, based on assignment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in a classroom and a general office environment, with moderate physical requirements; requires occasionally lifting such articles as file boxes or heavier materials with help from others and/or lifting and carrying light objects frequently. Jobs in this category may require walking or standing to a significant degree, long periods of working with computers, and working within the community. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
NOTE: Final candidates may be invited to interview with a committee. Final appointment to this position will be contingent upon passing a criminal background check.
