The Career Development office is a division of the College of Arts & Sciences Student Services & Admissions office. The College of Arts & Sciences has 4,400+ undergraduate students, representing different under-represented backgrounds and cultures from across the U.S. and the world. Career Development serves all undergraduate students, as well as recent graduates up to 5 years after graduation, on all career related topics including internship/job search strategies, graduate and professional school admission, major and career exploration, interviewing, and job offer negotiation. Our very busy office serves ~2,500 unique students each year through individual appointments, workshops, and events. Career Development is also home to signature experiential learning programs, such as the Nexus Scholars program and the Summer Experience Grant.

The Program Manager will provide programmatic and administrative support for the Arts & Sciences Career Development office, specifically managing the Nexus Scholars and Summer Experience Grant in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Nexus Scholars Program:
The Nexus Scholars Program provides undergraduate students with summer opportunities to work side by side with faculty from all across the college (humanities, social sciences, and STEM) on their research projects. Along with the summer research experience, the program offers professional development workshops, career exploration events, and the chance to be part of a cohort from throughout the college who are passionate about learning. Each year, we host approximately 100 students.
Contribute to the development of strategic planning for the Nexus Scholars program; help establish learning outcomes and administer tools for measuring achievement of learning outcomes. Create and disseminate process maps and flows. Market the Nexus Scholars program to Arts & Sciences faculty and students; update the Nexus Scholars website, including faculty and student applications, and programmatic information. Collaborate with Salesforce Administrator to implement all updates and process flows. Read and evaluate applications. Liaise with faculty mentors to choose students; implement an application review process and initiate matching of faculty members and students. Plan and coordinate information sessions and programmatic activities; may recruit faculty and alumni to offer workshops and career development advice for students. Coordinate summer student employment and payroll processes. Lead the Nexus Scholars working group, comprised of the Faculty Director, A&S Career Director, Nexus Scholars Student Assistant, and Senior Associate Dean of Undergraduate Education. Create meeting agenda and delegate assignments and tasks appropriately. Supervise an undergraduate Nexus Scholars Assistant, who provides programmatic support part-time during the academic year and full-time over the summer.
Assist in preparation of stewardship reports for donors and senior leadership. Assist in decisions concerning policy-setting, research, and planning for students. Coordinate and maintain program budget.
Summer Experience Grant (SEG):
The Summer Experience Grant provides financial support for students to complete summer unpaid or minimally paid career-related experiences. SEG supports students with living expenses, transportation, and travel so that these essential experiences are available to all of our students, who may otherwise not be able to afford them. Arts & Sciences aims to award $500,000+ in funding each summer to eligible students.
Collaborate closely with the Summer Experience Grant Coordinator in Cornell Career Services (CCS) and represent Arts & Sciences on the SEG working group. Coordinate with CCS and the working group on application updates in Salesforce and specific needs related to A&S SEG funding amounts and sources. Communicate with office and College staff regarding working group progress and train staff appropriately. Review Experience Verification forms, student end-of-summer student reflection, and experience supervisor end-of-summer survey to ensure accuracy. Maintain Excel file on Box, including setting v-lookups and formulas for computing award amounts and funding streams.
Perform other duties as assigned. May require some evening or weekend hours.
