Job Description
Fotografiska
A destination to discover world-class photography, eclectic programming, elevated dining, and surprising new perspectives, in 2010 Fotografiska was founded in Stockholm and in late 2019 opened its newest outpost in a treasured, historic landmark building in NYC’s Flatiron District. The iconic NYC and Stockholm locations are complemented by expansion in Tallinn, and forthcoming museums in Berlin and Shanghai. Fotografiska’s goals are simple: to inspire a more conscious world through the power of photography, to bring people together, raise awareness and create positive change. The Museum showcases the greatest photographers, whether they’re emerging artists or already established internationally - it's a museum experience for the modern world.
Fotografiska | New York
Located at 281 Park Avenue South, the six-floor, 45,000 sq ft. historic landmark is home to an unexpected mix of world-class art, vibrant cultural programming, and exceptional dining experiences including Vēonika and our Members-only space, Chapel Bar. Our New York location has featured work from Ellen von Unwerth, Tawny Chatmon, Helene Schmitz, Adi Nes, and Anastasia Taylor-Lind in partnership with TIME Magazine, Andres Serrano, Pixie Lao, Adrienne Raquel, and others.
The Role
Fotografiska's Museum Associates are dynamic hospitality and sales professionals. This is a vital front-of- house role, working in an exciting environment that is redefining the museum experience as a unique creative space to gather and share inspired moments. Museum Associates are expected to actively drive revenue – using sophisticated sales techniques and genuine engagement to sell admission tickets, events, memberships and retail merchandise - encouraging guests to come early, stay late, have fun, feast and enjoy drinks with friends and loved ones, while enjoying the breadth of exceptional photographic exhibitions on view and depth of programming on offer. The position encompasses a wide range of duties, including: greeting guests, ticket sales for admission and events, retail sales, membership cultivation, providing support for exhibition floors and programming, and undertaking various duties as assigned. Our Museum Associates build community, bring people together, maintain a positive and dynamic energy in the museum, drive sales, and embody the role of brand ambassador, encouraging our guests to immerse themselves in our museum experience for the modern world.
This is one of the most visible and connective roles within Fotografiska, and represents the museum with warmth, professionalism, grace, and an innate understanding of our vision in every interaction. Fotografiska’s team is lean, operates with a mindset of “no task is too big or too small,” and sets an exceptional service standard. Museum Associates must be receptive to new information, in a dynamic and constantly evolving environment, be nimble in navigating through ambiguity, and be ready to support all departments in meeting the needs of the museum in a period of ambitious growth.
This is a contracted temporary role until September 2024.
