Position Summary The Marketing and Communications Intern will support the Marketing and Communications Manager in executing various aspects of our marketing and communication strategies. This role is designed for a proactive and creative individual who is eager to gain hands-on experience in social media management, email campaigns, content creation, and data analysis. The intern will play a key role in enhancing our digital presence and community engagement efforts while learning about strategic marketing in a dynamic and mission-driven environment.
This position is currently hybrid and has a strong preference for individuals in the Los Angeles area and would be available to be in the office on Wednesdays, as needed.
Overview of Role The Marketing and Communications Intern will assist in the management and execution of our social media platforms, email campaigns, website content, and webinars. This position will offer valuable experience in tracking and analyzing marketing metrics, drafting engaging content, and supporting the overall marketing and communications strategy. The intern will work closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager to ensure all initiatives align with our organizational goals and effectively reach our target audiences.
You will: The Marketing and Communications Intern will be responsible for overseeing the work outlined below. - Social Media Management:
- Draft and schedule compelling social media posts across various platforms, ensuring content aligns with our brand voice and messaging.
- Monitor social media channels for engagement opportunities and flag relevant conversations for community interaction.
- Assist in live posting during webinars and events, enhancing real-time engagement.
- Develop impactful content and campaigns in coordination with the Marketing and Communications Manager.
- Data and Strategy:
- Generate/analyze reports on social media, email, and web metrics, and share insights and actionable recommendations based on the data.
- Build and manage segmented lists based on user behavior, including past email engagement, website interactions, and event attendance.
- Webinars:
- Build Zoom registration pages and website event pages.
- Assist in the setup and management of webinars, ensuring smooth execution from start to finish.
- Edit and upload webinar recordings to YouTube, and update the website with new content.
- Email Communications:
- Draft content for our monthly newsletter, ensuring regular distribution and high reader engagement
- Assist in curating content for various email campaigns, tailoring messaging to different audience segments

- A high school diploma or equivalent
- This internship is geared toward students who are currently enrolled in a related post-secondary program or recently graduated from a related post-secondary program (within 1 year)
- Familiarity with social media and marketing tools and software or a willingness to learn (GA4, Hubspot, Meltwater)
- Excellent verbal, written, and editing skills
- Strong attention to detail, project management, meeting deadlines/follow through
- Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to anticipate needs, prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Self-motivated, action-oriented, strong track record as an implementer and self-starter
- Ability to take ownership of new projects and work well with ambiguity
- Enjoy collaborating, thinking both creatively and strategically
- Ability to work within culturally diverse environments
- Commitment to advancing educational equity and racial justice agenda
