Job Title: Patient Care Associate – Nights
Location: New York, NY 10019
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (5 x 7.5-hour shifts, Nights)
PAY: $18-$20/hour
Shift Schedule: Night shift – 11:00 PM to 7:15 AM, 5 days/week with every other weekend required
Floating: Required to float to all Med Surg units

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with daily personal care tasks, including bathing, feeding, toileting, and mobilization
• Take and document vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration) and monitor pain levels
• Perform basic clinical procedures including venipuncture, specimen collection, and EKGs
• Support dietary functions: distribute meal trays, assist with menu selection, and report dietary concerns
• Maintain a clean and safe patient environment, including bed stripping and room upkeep
• Provide one-to-one observation or close monitoring for at-risk patients (e.g., suicide, elopement)
• Observe isolation protocols under RN supervision
• Conduct hourly rounding to check on patient comfort, toileting needs, and pain
• Respond to patient call systems and escalate needs appropriately
• Transport patients, deliver specimens, and manage supplies and equipment
• Assist with administrative functions: updating discharge logs, assembling charts, updating patient records
• Perform postmortem care and emergency patient transport if needed
• Participate in culturally competent and patient-centered care practices

Required Qualifications:

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent (required)

Experience:

• Minimum 3–9 months of healthcare experience preferred
• Prior experience in a hospital or med-surg environment is a plus

Certifications:

• BLS Certification from American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
• Completion of Patient Care Associate Orientation Program at Mount Sinai (preferred)
