Tidewater staffing is currently seeking Environmental Health and Safety Inspectors.
The ESH Inspector is an experienced-level position. As an experienced-level inspector, the employee performs a full range of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) assignments in a full-functioning capacity. The position will work closely with the ESH Manager and Director and will interface with Project Management Teams and assigned supervision, in improving the safety program and enhancing safety awareness. Has the ability to influence and recommend modifying existing protocols. This position may require overtime, in addition to, work on weekends and holidays. This position does not have regular hours or shift work and employee may be asked to start a shift several hours earlier than the oncoming shift. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum required education: High School diploma/GED, with 2+ years of experience in a shipyard environment. Required certifications: Current OSHA Maritime 10-Hour or 30-Hour training, Initial and annual 8-hour update for Shipyard Competent Person training. Additional training will be provided upon hiring. Shipboard experience is required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This is a physically demanding position and may accommodate some physical disabilities. Physical dexterity may be required when performing walk thru and inspection of job sites. In the performance of the walk-thru, you will be required to transverse steep stairwells, vertical ladders, and bending or stooping thru tight spaces, in overhead structures, confined spaces or beneath machinery. There may be the occasional lifting of materials weighing not more than 50 pounds. Work conditions vary from indoors to outdoors, very hot to very cold.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
This position works on the job site and in an office environment. There is exposure to hostile environments, loud noises, hazardous chemicals, smoke, and extreme temperatures. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs/vertical ladders; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
