Job Description: EHS Co-Op Co-Op - Spring 2025

Core Purpose: •Our site in Chaska is seeking a/an EHS Co-Op to join our team for the Spring 2025 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.
In this role, you will: •Sustainability, Recycling audit and improvements
•Cost savings cost avoidance projects
•ISO Audit Checklists data collection & internal auditing activities
•Perform PPE Assessments and integrate into work instruction
•Audit & update JSA (Job safety analysis) updating & integrating into SAP Work Instruction's
•Take over monthly EHS-LT data populating and scheduling.
•Write safety snaps bi-weekly newsletter topic; ask EHS department what should go in the notes section.
•Give New Hire Orientation every/every other Monday.
•Spend time on the production floor collaborating & engaging with the workforce assessing risk, performing inspections.
•Update facility maps; include ETQ Doc # and Rev # in bottom right corner.
•Assist in EHS auditing & task closure
•Monthly ERT bag inspections; order any needed supplies.
•ERT team initiatives, table top scenarios
•Assist with emergency response drills
•PPE Floor sticker audit as needed.
•Update committee communications of projects as needed.
•ERT sign locations: middle lab door by eyewash in PTM, first floor bathroom, second floor bathroom, EHS communication board, Door 2 time clocks cork board, warehouse, B2 lunchroom, B2 machining Cintas cabinet.
•Ergo signs: EHS board, maybe Door 2 time clocks cork board.
•Confined space sign: EHS board.
•Create a 'library' for all EHS stickers - GHS, Caution, warning, Pinch point etc.
•Put updated SDS through Actio Chemical storage library
•Ergonomics team involvement. Perform assessments, Implementing improvements.
•Process auditing - Observe production processes and look for gaps that need to be closed
•Improve current processes for effectiveness
•Create Quick tools for sups & leads for EHS Reporting
You're a good fit if you have: •Working towards Bachelor of Science degree in occupational safety, occupational health, engineering, environmental science, or other EHS-related technical discipline from an accredited college/university
•Working towards experience working with OSHA, US EPA and state-level compliance programs and regulations
•Schooling of Federal and State Safety laws, regulations, codes, and best management practices
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships quickly and effectively at all levels throughout the company.
•Knowledge of hazardous materials management and environmental regulations
•Skills and experience in employee development and training
•Ability to work with people in a culturally diverse environment
•Demonstrate effective communication with Executive Management, Front Line Supervision as well as other employees
•High level of initiative, teamwork, and ownership
•Ability to use a computer, email, video conference tools and office software
•Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Outstanding Candidates Will Have: •Self starter and stays motivated while challenging and promoting innovative ideas
•Experience in Industrial Manufacturing
Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year: •Working towards Bachelor of Science degree in occupational safety, occupational health, engineering, environmental science, or other EHS-related technical discipline from an accredited college/university
