REPORTS TO: SVP - PRODUCT ANALYTICS AND RISK

PAY RANGE: $170,300.00 - $180,000.00 ANNUALLY
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Director Analytics/Risk is responsible for statistical model development and model management to support risk/return strategies and ongoing risk management of Golden 1's Lending and Deposit programs to meet member financial needs, enable sustainable growth and optimize economic returns.
PURPOSE STATEMENT:
Use advanced statistical modeling techniques to develop models that support product risk management and development/management of financial products and services that meet members’ needs and improve financial health while ensuring the financial safety and soundness of Golden 1.
TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:
Model Development: Develop and implement key statistical models used to manage and mitigate risk (credit, fraud, retention, etc.) for lending and/or deposit products. Models will drive key elements of risk and pricing strategies that deliver appropriate economic returns for Golden 1.
Model Validation and Documentation: Develop and maintain salient model documentation to support active models and ensure models are properly maintained in Golden 1’s model inventory. Perform ongoing model validation and population stability testing.
Advanced Modeling Techniques: Explore, compare and contrast various modeling approaches, including AI and Machine Learning techniques, driving continuous improvement in Golden 1’s active model inventory.
Industry Monitoring: Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in statistical risk modeling, Machine Learning, AI, etc., and implement relevant changes to enhance the organization's model management processes.
Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements related to model management. Ensure that models are managed in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Support ongoing fair lending testing.
Teamwork: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as marketing, finance, operations, and IT, to align around business outcomes and foster effective partnerships to deliver defined outcomes.
PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS:
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine and telephone.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS:
INTERNAL: Board of Directors, Management Group, and Staff
EXTERNAL: C.C.U.L., community organizations, vendors, suppliers and peers in financial institutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline
EXPERIENCE: Seven years or more of analytics and risk management experience with an emphasis on retail lending – origination and portfolio management.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Demonstrated excellence as a strategic thinker who can put plans into action to achieve mutually agreed upon goals in a fast-paced professional environment.
Proven track record of successfully developing and managing statistical models for retail products within financial services during differing macro-economic environments.
Understanding of the various risks (credit, operational, market, etc.) and management approaches within retail financial products and digital/analog operations.
Excellent analytical skills and ability to leverage data and customer insights to inform model development inputs and outputs.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional leaders and teams, vendors, and other credit unions.
Ability to effectively synthesize results into concise and impactful business cases with clear recommendations.
Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Solid background with analytic, statistical modeling and data manipulation tools such as SAS, R, SQL and/or Python.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
Corrected vision within the normal range.
Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
Extensive travel by car or public conveyance for out-of-area locations or across the United States.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Possession of a valid California driver's license desirable but not essential.
