Registered Clinical Dietitian - Part Time at Norman Regional Health System summary:

As a Registered Clinical Dietitian, I provide comprehensive nutrition assessments and ongoing care for patients, ensuring they receive tailored nutrition education to enhance their health outcomes. My role requires collaboration with healthcare teams, continuous education, and adherence to regulatory standards while delivering exceptional patient care. With a focus on various subspecialties such as diabetes, cardiology, and oncology, I strive to impact lives positively within the health system.

• Provides initial nutrition assessment of patient condition.
• Provides ongoing reassessment and follow up care.
• Provides nutrition education services for patient and staff.

Qualifications

Education

Required: Any program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that leads to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN). Basic knowledge of subspecialty area (including nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, oncology, etc.) Must obtain approximately 15 hours of continuing education credits per calendar year. Keep current of new findings/research.

Experience

Preferred: Six months of clinical experience in an acute care facility preferred.

Licensure/Certification

Required: Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an Oklahoma State Dietitian license must be achieved within the first 6 months of employment. Must obtain a food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health department before hire (or within 1 week of hire). Completion of general and patient care orientation is required prior to providing patient care. 

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Required: Must be able to use decision making skills to make rational & quick decisions regarding prioritizing of patient care. Have the foresight to recognize unsafe work conditions and/or practices. The ability to safely use chemicals and equipment for the patients, visitors and staff. Knowledge base for use of different formula's when assessing patient's nutritional needs.

• Six months of clinical experience in an acute care facility is preferred.

• Much achieve registration within the first 6 months of eligibility or hire date.
• Must obtain a food handler's permit from Cleveland County Health department before hire (or within one week of hire).
