Job Description
The Curriculum Coordinator/Education Coach is responsible for ensuring that curriculum is representative of Respite Care of San Antonio and agency values and that curriculum is presented as intended so that teachers can speak to the curriculum and what children are learning. The Curriculum Coordinator/Education Coach will spend 65% of their time in the classroom educating, mentoring, and modeling high quality education for teachers. Also, mentor teachers to partner with parents with a shared desire to provide the best care and education for children. The Curriculum Coordinator/Education Coach will also train, motivate, and lead team members and assist center management with interviewing and hiring of teachers and support agency success by partnering with all team members and leadership to achieve goals around enrollment, accreditation, and operational objectives.
Assist Center Directors and Teachers with implementing educational programming in accordance with State Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations, Childcare Licensing, Respite Care’s Texas School Readiness, Head Start, Texas Rising Star goals, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
− Work closely with program leadership and teachers to ensure full implementation of all aspects of the curriculum readiness, record keeping, reporting, transitions, student portfolios, and ongoing monitoring.
− Partner with Center Director and/or leadership for the facilitation of professional learning for teachers to developmentally grow in curriculum planning and assessment data
− Support teaching staff as needed on curriculum implementation, individualization, screening, and child assessment
− Utilize leadership styles that are developmentally appropriate for teaching staff and give guidance regarding classroom/time management, discipline, scheduling, planning, and organizing the day embodying all agency Core Values
− Attend professional development training to maintain current and up-to-date knowledge and information on curriculum development and learning strategies.
− Assist teaching staff with new teacher and volunteer onboarding and training
− Work closely with Center Directors and/or leadership to tier teachers for professional growth
− Provide coaching, reflection, training, and technical assistance to classroom teachers and assistant teachers
- Conduct monthly practice-based coaching based on the needs of teachers and provide coaching for teachers in need of intensive coaching
− Guide teaching staff in a collaborative effort to promote a positive nurturing environment
− Support teachers in providing students' social-emotional development by providing high-quality coaching, guided reflection, training, and technical assistance
− Work closely with Center Directors and/or leadership and teaching staff to apply and analyze performance-based assessment data (children and CLASS assessments) to utilize results for planning and individualized instruction
− Conduct CLASS observations and provide feedback to assess teacher needs and planning strategies for teachers' professional development and improvement
− In coordination with the Center Directors and/or leadership, develop a comprehensive teacher coaching plan-based on CLASS data
− Coordinate with Center Director and/or leadership to ensure the timely identification, referral, and transition support for children with disabilities transferring to the school district.
− Exhibit cultural awareness and sensitivity when interacting with children, parent(s)/guardian(s), staff, and the community; assist teaching staff in developing cultural awareness and sensitivity
− Actively participate in exhibiting cultural awareness and sensitivity when interacting with children, parent(s)/guardian(s), staff, and the community
− Immediately address and collaborate with teaching staff's supervisor any and all concerns related to child health and safety
− Address and inform supervisor of mitigating concerns: inclusive but not limited to classroom management, behavior management, child health and safety, child development, and any other concerns requiring intervention
− Provide consultation to the Center Director and/or leadership and teaching staff on differentiated instruction for all children, including those with challenging behaviors
− Work together with Center Directors and/or leadership in daily administrative tasks such as (but not limited to) opening and closing procedures, touring, answering phones, providing coverage in classrooms, and monthly purchasing and organizing of curriculum supplies.
