Position Summary:

As a key member of our team, you will provide clinical expertise, education, consultation, leadership, and research in selected clinical areas to benefit patients, staff, and the organization. Your role will include:

• Serving as a resource to staff and management.
• Promoting efficient, effective, and compassionate patient care.
• Facilitating collegial relationships and effective communication.
• Representing the organization positively and professionally.

Education & Certification:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Connecticut.
• BSN from an accredited University (Master’s Degree preferred; matriculation required after one year).
• BLS certified and Certification as an instructor in Basic Cardiac Life Support within one year.
• Basic certification in area of specialty preferred (Nursing/Education/Behavioral Health).

Experience:

• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in clinical practice, nursing education, and/or nursing management in an acute care setting.
• At least three (3) years of Behavioral Health experience required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Your role will involve a variety of responsibilities, including:

• Providing high-quality direct patient care in your area of expertise.
• Coordinating and implementing orientation and continuing education for BHU nursing staff.
• Planning and implementing annual BHU competencies.
• Identifying and addressing issues that interfere with patient care.
• Providing clinical practice interventions that improve outcomes and satisfaction.
• Acting as an expert resource for staff and collaborating with healthcare teams.
• Participating in teaching and coaching of staff and students.
• Fostering a spirit of inquiry and applying research findings to advance clinical practice.
• Collaborating with various healthcare professionals to enhance team dynamics.
• Utilizing evidence-based practices in all procedures and policies.
