Eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or as an activities professional by a recognized accrediting body on or after October 1, 1990; or Has 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years, one of which was full-time in a therapeutic activities program; or Is a qualified occupational therapist or occupational therapy assistant; or Has completed a training course approved by the State. Basic computer skills. Ability to maintain records and complete reports as required, including web-based reporting. Written and oral communication skills. Ability to interact positively with residents, other personnel and the public. Good communication, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Ability to work effectively with a team. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and implement engaging activities and programs suitable for elderly residents to improve the quality of life through promotion of physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Coordinate and supervise Activities staff members to ensure activities are carried out effectively. Collaborate with other departments to integrate programs into overall resident care plans. Maintain the activities calendar of events to provide a variety of resident and family-centered experiences. Maintain records and documentation related to recreational programs and resident participation. Responsible for hiring, coaching and retaining a high-performing activities team. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
