Job Summary The Accounting Intern will provide support to one of the following departments within Continental's Accounting/Finance areas: Treasury/Planning; Property Accounting; Joint Interest; Audit; Revenue and Material Control.
Duties and Responsibilities In addition to working on a summer project, the Accounting intern will apply basic financial concepts and accounting principles to include but not limited to:
- Process monthly data including inputting, coding, scanning, copying and distributing of reports & information
- Preparation of journal entries with all applicable backup documentation and proposed accounts & cost centers
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts
- Analyze and account for all payments for oil and gas sales from operated and non-operated properties;
- Analyze Joint Interest billings for compliance with Joint Operating Agreements and industry guidelines
- Analyze and account for purchases of services, equipment, and materials used in drilling, completing and producing oil wells.
- Research, analyze and resolve disputes with third party working interest owners, operators and vendors

- Proficient with Microsoft Office

- Effective time management
Required Qualifications - Current enrollment in 4 year college or university;
- Working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or finance;
- Professional appearance and demeanor; and
- Eligible to work permanently in the United States upon graduation
- An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test
Preferred Qualifications Physical Requirements and Working Conditions - Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
